On a birding field trip to Loess Bluffs NWR in NW MO (40 deg 04'08"N 95 deg 13'34" W) on April 9, we encountered 3 adult Monarchs flying over. None close enough to detect their sex or degree of wear. We did not closely survey plants, but no milkweed was noted--if present it would be very very young.
In my home area of Lee's Summit MO and Olathe KS, no Monarch sightings yet (by me). Several days have been too cold and rainy and probably too windy for flight conditions so far this month.
