Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/15/2017

Number: 2

On meadow land. The temperature here has been unseasonably warm and typical Tennessee-- high 70s low 80s, sunny for two days then stormy, cloudy, and back again. The milkweed is up and happily several volunteers have popped up in my garden as well. There are no eggs as far as I can tell yet but the two adult monarchs were very active and looked fresh to me but I can't be sure. Next time I will be ready with a picture didn't have my phone handy. We were on our property near Twelve Stones golf course, 25 acres up on top of a hill with several open meadows and mature trees. I did see a tiger swallowtail a few painted ladies and a pipeline, but no red admirals, frittaries, or sulfurs.
