Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/16/2017

Number: 1

Tending a customer’s garden today, I was asked about planting more tropical milkweed.
“Why?" I asked, you have several already.
“Really, where?”
“Right there.", I said.
Upon closer examination, I saw it was just a stick. “Looks like you had a Monarch Cat who ate your milkweed down to a nub.”
"So where’s it gone now?”
“Probably off to make a chrysalis.”
Fast forward a couple hours, and I spotted it crossing the driveway 30 feet away from the milkweed: A small, but healthy 5th instar looking for a safe haven. It is now in a mason jar being watched over by my customer’s 4year old grandson. I’ll transfer to a bug cage on Monday.

I expect to report first of season gen 1 in a week or so.
