Sightings report image

Date: 04/17/2017

Number: 1

Yesterday (17 Apr 2017) between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm I counted 19 American Lady, 2 Cabbage White, and 12 Red Admiral butterflies around Rosetta McClain Gardens all nectaring on Glory-of-the-Snow and Striped Squill.

Also had a Green Darner dragonfly.

Forwarded by Don Davis:
First dragonfly I have heard reported this spring. I sure it is not the first for the province. Also I noted that magnolia trees planted around the city are breaking into bloom. Toronto is on the far east edge of Carolinean Canada and depending on the severity of winters as well as how sheltered these trees and shrubs are, more southerly species survive.
