I spent most of the day Sunday at a prairie restoration in north central Iowa located about 50 miles north of Ames. No monarchs to report, although there was an abundance of red admirals nectaring on some flowering shrubs nearby.
Milkweed at this prairie restoration was barely visible poking through soil line.
