Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/15/2017

Number: 1

First Monarch and have seen several since. All flying North. We are excited, because many times, we don’t get to see the monarchs at all until they are returning to Mexico. The wings were bright orange, so we know they are newer.

We’ve had painted ladies, red admirals, Sulphurs, and 1 Question Mark, which was also really exciting!

Currently in flower on our property are western wallflowers, dandelions, creeping phlox, candytuft, tulips, grape hyacinth, (most daffodils in our area are already done). There are a couple other weedy plants – one with yellow flowers and one with purple flowers that I don’t know the names of.
