first male rufous for 2017 arrived with its "jingling" feather whistle, same arrival date as 2015, but 2 weeks later than 2016. My location is lakeside in the "Okanagan flyway" - this rufous arrived at 10 am, drank for 2 min, then flew in the direction of the migration path over the lake, much like he was "filling up" before resuming on the highway northward. Did not return over the next 3 hrs, but two female calliope hummers are busy at the feeder.
