I work at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Virginia.
Normally we would see monarchs in June - last year it was late May.
Our Land Manager reported seeing a monarch yesterday (April 20) on two different occasions.
The milkweed in our way station is still sparse and about 3 inches tall where it has emerged.
I plan to take a walk this afternoon through our grasslands to check milkweed status and maybe see a monarch egg?
