Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 04/23/2017

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports 1st ruby-throated hummingbird of the season nectaring at the Coral Honeysuckle on the arbor in the back yard. My husband spotted him through the patio door window. Temps in the 50s, overcast all day, rain on and off. The honeysuckle had retained a cluster or two of flowers all winter long on and off, then within the last week or so began to really produce blooms like crazy. Figured the hummies were around, just never got to catch a glimpse. My neighbor had her feeder out since 4/11 and didn't see any change in the liquid or any birds. Glad they are back!
