I heard it calling in the marsh by our backyard in the early morning. It is the First time I have heard a calling loon in my neighborhood ever, though I live on the Chesapeake bay. The common loons only stay here in the wintertime in drab plumage and not calling to each other, then they move on to nesting grounds.
