Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 04/30/2017

Number: 20

Queeny Park has a naturalized area, where common milkweeds are mixed in with other plants. Last week we spotted a few eggs.
This week probably 1 in every 5 milkweeds had new holes in the leaves, and each of those plants had 1-3 teeny tiny monarch caterpillars nestled in the inner leaves.

I've never seen so many caterpillars so early before. I hope there's enough milkweed around to support them all this summer!
