Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/29/2017

Number: 1

for the last three days (April 27-29) I've conducted ROW milkweed surveys roughly from Austin to Huntsville (e. TX) to Waco (c. TX).

am finding ample amounts of milkweed, mostly asperula and viridis and lesser amounts of oenotheroides.

nearly all of the milkweed is in excellent condition and I only occasionally find damage consistent with danaid feeding.

the only immature danaids found over the last three days were one late instar monarch and one danaid ova that I accidentally damaged...

our Texas natives don't seem to be as popular with the monarcas as swamp and common MWs are as I see no evidence of egg dumping in my surveys...
