Today we observed our very first male Ruby-throated Hummingbird of the season. We saw our first female of the season yesterday on May 2. My husband was sitting in a chair on the back patio and I was holding the back door open to talk to him for a bit. That is when the little male flew up to a feeder hanging from the patio and began feeding from it. We continued talking, and it did not seem to bother the little guy at all. He then flew to a very small HummBlossom feeder at the end of the patio, and fed from it as well. We are SO thrilled to have these sweet and very tiny little ones back with us again!!!
