Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/08/2017

Number: 1

Well, I'm 99% sure I had my first visitor on April 27, 2017 at 2:43PM, but it was just a dark green blur that buzzed through my yard and into one of my O'neil Red Horse-chestnuts.

Tonight however, I'm glad to report that I had a Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird feeding from the blossoms of that very same tree at 8:27PM. 100% confirmation via my trusty ole Bushnell 8x40's! And again at 8:30PM.

Of course he just had to show up tonight not even 5 minutes after I brought in the 4 Vermillionare Cigar Plants (that I just bought this morning from Schmidt's Roadside) and my hanging citrus and oak trees to protect them all from tonight's freeze warning. I wish I'd known there was one last night as my trees look a bit frost-bitten today.

Good Luck to everyone this 2017 Hummbirding Season! ~Nate.
