Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 04/12/2017

Number: 10

I went walking about checking milkweed at about 11am through 12 noon. I saw 4 monarchs during that time. It was cloudy, about 70 degrees F, with light breezes E 4mph, and 81% humidity.

Later in the day at 4:30pm as I looked around for a few moments before leaving home, I easily saw 5 individual monarchs in our yard/upper pasture area. This included a mating pair flying, then landing together on a flowering milkweed. Then about a quarter mile from our home as I drove away, there was another monarch flying over the ditch. Seemed like a good time for monarchs to be out and about.

This is a photo of one of the morning monarchs, a male who flew past me fast, then quickly settled into the grass. He just seemed to be taking a rest break ~ which gave me a chance to take a photo!
