Observed one calliope male at the feeder. He appeared to arrive at the same time as a group of rufous hummingbirds and there was quite a commotion. The calliope retreated to a specific feeder at the front without apparent competition from the other species. His beautiful rose-purple, beaded throat was unmistakable in the afternoon sunlight.
