Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 05/09/2017

Number: 2

These are the same two larvae that I continue to report on. The milkweed was first seen as a one inch spike on April 13, and 7 eggs were laid on April 15. The Monarch larvae were first seen on May 3. This photograph was taken on May 9. The two larvae are growing every day. I was concerned that there would not be enough milkweed to support these larvae, but all is well. There should be plenty of milkweed to feed these two. I don't know what happened to the other 5 eggs. The milkweed is encircled with small mesh wire to protect it from rabbits.
