Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 05/10/2017

Number: 1

First ruby throat, a lovely female at 4:47 PM, enjoying nectar from the feeder by the east side of the house. Overcast today, 65 degrees with a slight breeze. Welcome home wonder child--we're so glad she's here. Somewhat surprised--as usually "the boys" arrive first :-) Our arrivals are usually between May 6th-8th. Six feeders are available in the habitat--surrounded by red flags and pink survey tape. Natural nectar presently available: banks filled with pachysandra, native honeysuckle-- dicentria luxuriant, barberry shrubs, cherry and dogwood trees are in bloom.
