1:30 pm at my bird feeders, a very small male, I would say 7-7.5" possibly a juvenile. Inspected all feeders and clung to a peanut mesh feeder first, eating bits of peanut. Very interested in caged hulled sunflower feeders and tried to squeeze through 1" openings. Then explored my caged bark butter feeder in a "universal caged tube feeder" with 1¼" openings, and squeezed in easily. Devoured bark butter and not shy of surrounding birds, even pecked a downy woodpecker away. Flew off and then returned for more. I set out orange halves and "birdberry jelly" on same "wild birds unlimited" pole system and he came back for nibbles at the oranges. I then made sugar water ratio 1:5 and hung from another pole. Overcast and 14-15C in North Richmond Hill. Hopefully the first of many this spring!
