Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 05/15/2017

Number: 2

My husband had just gotten our 8 new plants of Salvia greggii called 'Radio Red' in the ground 2 days ago. R located at back part of our fence. During watch from 7-8:20pm Low & behold I was surprised 2 C a male Black-Chinned (guessing) going from plant 2 plant down the Row working ea. flower. Though these plants R suppose 2 mature to 18in. tall & wide they are only approx. 6-7 in. tall right now. This is a new plant 4 us but the plant reviews said the hummers loved it. Already a "hit" with our hummers. Then as the sprinklers went off near 'Radio Red' plants he was forced 2 come back closer to me 2 feed on the 'Heatwave Blaze' Salvia & that is when I heard the sound of the familiar B.C. wing-whirl. I guess the brightly colored 'Radio Red' are drawing his attention. He must be pleased 2 find almost some new plant blooming N our yard almost everyday. Still no signs of the 2 females that came in April. I also took 2 extra feeders down as not necessary now. That is also drawing them closer to where I can C them. No sign of any fighting. Will put out more as needed.
