Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 05/14/2017

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #27 reports sighting one 3rd instar caterpillar on Purple Milkweed growing in the back yard. I did not search diligently, just came upon it as I was weeding. All other larvae or eggs previously sighted in front or back yards are gone. I suspect many were victims of the numerous ants & wasps in the general area. Lots of chew holes in plants but no complete defoliation. Maybe with luck one stealthy adult will result from this spring's original April egg dump.
