My first sighting was April 15 this year. The earliest ever us and it was a female which laid tons of eggs on the little 4 inch milkweed plants I had. I gathered 22 eggs and left over 100 on the milkweed. Of the 22 eggs I did not get a single survivor. The cats either died at the stage where they were starting to turn into a Chrysalis or when the came out of the Chrysalis they were deformed and fell to the bottom of the cages. I had a second group of eggs that were laid at a later date in a different area and the were all deformed butterflies too. I have a third group now and the first two just came out and they appear to be normal. I am looking for a microscope to check for EO before I release them. NOT a good year here so far. None of the eggs outside made it to Butterfly stage either.
