First adult monarch for 2017. 90% certain it was a female (in very good condition). It was fluttering among a small patch of common milkweed (about a dozen plants) in a CRP field. It never stopped to lay an egg(s). This particular CRP field has a lot of common milkweed. Common milkweed plants continue to emerge from their winter slumber. Saw my first common milkweed on May 12th. I have counted over 200 common milkweed plants in this particular field so far with more emerging everyday. Will begin looking for the first egg.
