Last week I released after rearing 12 monarchs. Today a female was in yard nectaring on 5 foot tall common milkweed then laid eggs. After about 1 hour a male flew down and grabbed her and they mated for about 6 hours. Is it possible for a female to lay eggs and same day mate? Never seen this before.?? I assume tomorrow she'll be laying eggs again.
