Two monarchs on my showy milkweed this afternoon, first time this year, one very very pale, the other much darker. Last year I had two show up June 2, and the year before that two on June 6. They stay for half the summer, but whether some go and others arrive, I do not know. Nor can I get close enough long enough to sex the males (they're scent glands). Will have to learn how to tag them.
