I checked my milkweed patch this afternoon and was delighted to find the first caterpillar of the year on the Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata). This is the earliest I have seen them on my milkweed up here in the mountains. Monarch Waystation #11878, ~3,000 ft elevation.
