Eight, probably more, at impoundment dike road on refuge. Also in a field adjoining this marsh (~3/4 mile distance between the two sites). Observed male patrolling large patches of vetch, females visiting milkweed and evading male. On dike road; saw two mating pairs, one chased by another monarch adult. Many adults scattered up and down 1/2 mile dike (study site with common and swamp milkweed).
Significant activity here.
This is the first report of monarchs in this location.
