one female monarch, somewhat tattered, looking for a spot to lay eggs, but appearing to reject the aphid-covered milkweed along the street. She nectared on common milkweed, but I didn't see her lay an egg in several minutes of watching her approach and land on leaves. (She wouldn't be one of the 9 or 10 female monarchs we've released in the past week, because she is on the small side and quite worn looking.)
