Number: 2

Both a male and a female (which laid eggs) seen in garden yesterday. Again, I am curious to know if the behavior of females laying their eggs at the tops of the milkweed near the flowers is a response to hot weather. In the spring, all the eggs found during my weekly waystation count were found on the underside of the mid and lower leaves, but now, the females are predominantly laying their eggs all on the tops of the plant on the small leaves next to the flowers. About 90% of the eggs I find now in the hot summer months are located at the tops of the plant.
