Observed 3 breeding pair of adult monarchs in a relatively small section of my CRP fields. I am assuming these are third generation adults. The majority of common milkweed is in full bloom. Also, observed 3 other adult monarchs (sex unknown) feeding on common milkweed nectar. The bergamot flower buds are about ready to open. The black eyed susan, spiderwort and ox-eye sunflower are in full bloom. I will begin collecting common golden alexander seed in a few weeks. Great time to be out in the prairie.
