Creating two milkweed sites: I have collected the seeds from our other site in Kenora and have probably hundreds of 1-2 year old milkweed coming up and transplanted about 12 mature plants. One area is approximately 12' x 6' in our garden area and the other area is a couple hundred feet from this one in an old gravel pit area. I hope to also plant other sites on our 160 acres much of which is field. We have many flowering plants, trees and shrubs to also attract the butterflies.
Saw one monarch so far this year in our yard, no eggs on the mature milkweed though.
