First summer monarch seen in years. Lovely female was sipping from Gayfeather (Liatris spicata), Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), and Butterfly Weed (Asclepias tuberosa). The Swamp Mikweeds (Asclepias incarnata), which have not flowered on account of rabbits pruning plants earlier in season, were used by the Monarch for egg laying (have found 6 eggs so far). Have not yet found eggs on Asclepias incarnata, A. speciosa, or A. purpurea. Will continue looking though. Very excited about this visit.
