Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 07/17/2017

Number: 20

Very green and warm here in Wisconsin........lots of new Monarchs on the wing right now......feeding, mating, laying eggs. If you're looking for Monarchs, you should be able to see them now.
Spotted one milkweed plant with three 2nd instar caterpillars on it this morning. I think most of our egg laying from the 2nd generation has yet to happen.
Looking ahead, I would guess early September should see our biggest numbers; perhaps late August if warm temperatures hold.
Very wet this year; milkweed is in excellent condition, peak bloom about now.
Watching two Monarchs in their mating dance even as I speak.
'Tis a good time.
