Evening: I think I just witnessed my two reported monarchs mating.
The female was on mid level healthy common milkweed. Her top wings were open flat and her bottom 2 wings were tightly closed and quivering. The male was clasping her at the bottom wings. It only lasted a few seconds. Was that a consummation or a failed attempt????
I am hoping for offspring.
