Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 07/27/2017

Number: 1

While we have had up to 5 hummers this Season which included (1 adult male Ruby, 1 adult male Black-Chinned, 2 adult females early this Spring (unknown species) & females would return to feeder's for occasional short visits between clutches, & 1 fledgling which now looks similar to a female (unknown species. During the Season all have been more interested in flowers over feeder's. Tonight at 8:20pm I saw what I think is the sub-adult hummer from the 1st clutch this season feeding at the Cigar Plants (Cuphea 'David x Verity). I have not seen or heard the 2 adult males that chase each other in the last 2 days. We have had several bad thunderstorms this summer which could be reason why our bird count has been down. Pictured is either the adult or sub-adult hummer. Not sure if Ruby or B.C.
