Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 07/31/2017

Number: 2

Monarch Waystation #271 reports a juvenile male and a female visited the yard today. Juvenile male seen nectaring on Lady in Red Salvia [front yard] and Coral Honeysuckle [back yard] several times as I was gardening. He was also seen nectaring at other times on Torch Tithonia and Tropical milkweed in the front. A female was also seen in front enjoying the Tithonia and TMW. The one time I saw them interact, they took turns at the Tithonia, and flew towards the neighbor's Crepe Myrtle together, one beside or slightly behind the other, non-aggressively, leading me to think they were son and Mom. The neighbor next door maintains a nectar feeder every summer and the birds "make the rounds" around the building.
