I brought 12 monarch larvae into the house and put each into a separate plastic container to observe. 2-3 cream-colored maggots came out of 3 of the monarch larva just as the monarch larvae had formed J-shape. The 3 monarch larvae died. The maggots each formed a small pupa stage on the floor of the container. My guess is that these are maggots of the tachinid fly.
