Have five or six Monarchs playing on my liatris. Today, however, saw something I never saw before. One of the resident catbirds caught a monarch by the wings. Tried to kill it by hitting it on the ground. I followed the bird to try to get the Monarch released. It crossed the road and went behind a tree where a young catbird suddenly flew over. It seemed as if the catbird was trying to catch prey for the youngster. Both flew off as I circled the tree.
