These 2 females were fighting over my jalapeño and habanero peppers, bright red, but they were disappointed when they discovered they weren't flowers! settled on the Hamelia and crepe myrtle instead. I was surprised to see them so early, as it is usually late August before they appear. I have kept my feeder out and clean because the downy woodpeckers love to feed there! Today I was rewarded with both the downy woodpeckerand 2 female ruby throats. Wow!
