I was walking my dog in Metuchen,NJ (about 4 miles from Edison,NJ) at a place called the Greenway.It is a 4 mile stretch of railroad tracks that was converted into a paved walkway.There is vegetation on either side.I saw a female hummingbird nectaring on a wild plant with lots of small orange flowers.In one instance it landed on a branch and chased away a larger bird (either a cowbird or a mockingbird).I have no such luck at home.Haven"t seen a hummer at my feeder for over a month now.
