I can't believe how tough these first enstars are. Last evening at dusk I picked a bunch of common milkweed from my garden to get ready for the morning feeding. I put a pile of about 20 leaves in a bowl of cold water to soak. I took them out about 10 minutes later, wrapped them in a couple of paper towels, popped them in a plastic bag and stuck them in the fridge. This morning I took them out and was looking them over and I saw a first enstar on one of the leaves. I thought it either drown or froze but no, after about 5 minutes at room temp it stared moving around and is busy munching away. It can only think that it got stuck in a air pocket between 2 of the leaves or it would surely have drown.
