As I went out to our back yard about 3 PM, I briefly spotted a Monarch butterfly flying north along the west border of our yard. There’s a pair of swamp milkweed plants at the southwest corner of the yard, so it may have been leaving from there as opposed to simply flying by.
In any case, it was too far away to determine gender.

The temperature was about 82 degrees F, the sky was partly cloudy, and the wind was relatively calm.
