Ten larvae (1st-3rd instars) on regrowth of common milkweed after mowing on June 21st. Sign of older instar herbivory (8 eggs found July 21st).
Surveyed 25x50 meter plot. All mowed milkweed 6-18" tall, 98% vegetative, 2% budded, less than 1% flowering. All unmowed common milkweed in matrix podded and close to senescence. No larvae on plants near highway.
