I have now seen one more Monarch this week (August 15/'17). They always seem to prefer Asclepias syriacca (sp?) over all other Asclepias cultivars I have in the yard. Last years' Monarch caterpillars would only eat leaves on this particular cultivar also. After devouring the 6 plants I had, I gave them Butternut Squash to eat and they consumed it readily. I have pictures and videos to confirm. Also, have pic of chrysalis from last year.
