Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/24/2017

Number: 3

I have three Ruby Throat female(s) or juvenile(s) competeing for time at my feeder today with a male RT (he was reported separately under male hummingbird sighting.) I am definitely beginning to see hummers unfamiliar with my yard and feeder location as they come in searching flying around to various locations before locating nectar sources--the locals go straight for the feeder or to flower locations. The aerial battles are picking up. The male is currently guarding the lone feeder jealously. The others occasionally sneak in or feed on the althea bushes in bloom. The althea blooms also appear to contain some tiny insects that they feed on.
