Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 08/26/2017

Number: 1

Male monarch demonstrating territorial patrolling of the garden; intermittently nectaring on the tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) and landing on blue mistflower (Concoclinium greggii). He is distinctive due to a spot on the upper part of the medial edge of the inner left hind wing where scales are worn or absent. He is a strong flyer and appears to be in good health. He is the only monarch in the garden seen so far today as of 12:20 pm CT.
