Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 08/27/2017

Number: 5

We have sheltered hummingbird feeders in place with squirrel plexiglass which baffles new incoming ruby throats. Hurricane Harvey is really dumping rain now off and on (day 3). Only two sub adult male ruby throats were visible between rain bands yesterday. I sat in the garage watching them flying adjacent to each other on the driveway area with Hamelia, turks cap in bloom. They would take a break sitting on twigs and in the Hamelia, coral honeysuckle just beginning to bloom. Sparrows are also taking shelter on hummer feeders when it pours down. Sub adult male rubies are curious with sparrows on feeders hovering to see these intruders. Sparrows are also taking shelter on hummer feeders when it pours down.
