Welcome to Hotel Hurricane Harvey for Monarchs! I was able to save 9 Monarch caterpillars before Hurricane Harvey struck us in Houston. They have all gone into chrysalis, and I am hoping for sunnier days for when they emerge. It is devastating down here and we flooded everywhere. I was worried about what would happen to the Monarch migration with the hurricane lasting so long here. It just stopped raining in my location about 10 minutes ago, and low and behold, the first thing I see is the most beautiful Monarch female laying eggs on my sideways milkweed (the plants were blown down by the rain and winds by still alive). It was amazing!
