Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 08/30/2017

Number: 6

Currently (12:50 pm EDT), 72 F light breezes, partly sunny.
Six Ruby Throats heavily contesting 3 feeders. One adult male confirmed who is dominant and protecting "his" feeder from all comers. He is mostly able to sit on his nearby perch and flash his gorget as a warning. Occasionally one of the other RT try to feed on his feeder then he springs into action, diving at the offending bird. The two other adult males present yesterday may have moved on this morning as I have not seen them. I have 5 females or juveniles currently trying to feed on the two remaining feeders. Two juveniles are protecting each of those--I assume they are young males although they are not yet showing any red feathers. Lots of aerial acrobatics have ensued.
