Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/31/2017

Number: 1

I spent nearly an hour trying to photograph a hummingbird sipping nectar from my cardinal flowers, which I planted three years ago on the bank of our small woodland pond. The photo is not the best, but it sure was a thrill to see this energized little bird coming in for a sip. I had only a few seconds to take a photo.

A ruby throated hummingbird visited the flowers every 15 minutes or so. (total - 3) Of course, I'm not sure if it was the same humming bird or different ones each time.

Swamp milkweed is growing next to the cardinal flowers. The pods are filled with seeds now.
